SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- Given one final chance to play in front of her home crowd, Saint Mary's women's tennis player Jenny Jullien made sure that her last impression would be a familiar one to those who've watched her play.
Jullien's trademark determination was on full display last Friday as she rallied multiple times to defeat No. 27-ranked Katie Le of Santa Clara 7-5, 4-6, 6-2. For that effort, Jullien has been named West Coast Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season.
The manner in which Jullien battled to win her final match at Korth Tennis Complex was perhaps what made it one of the most memorable moments in her storied career as a Gael. Trailing early, the No. 12-ranked player in the country fought back to square, and eventually win, the first set.
After Le rebounded to take the second, Jullien stormed back in the third, closing the book on yet another competitive match against her rival from the South Bay. Once the match concluded, Jullien celebrated a 5-2 Saint Mary's win with her coaches and teammates as they huddled one final time on their home court this season.
Jullien, who is now ranked No. 9 in the nation, and the No. 44 Gaels now turn their attention to the WCC Championships that begin Wednesday in San Diego. No. 3 seed Saint Mary's will face No. 10 Pacific in a first round match set to begin at 3 p.m.
