MORAGA, Calif. -- For the second-straight year, former Saint Mary's men's basketball star Patrick Mills will join his San Antonio Spurs teammates in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.
After dispatching the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference final series in six games, the Spurs and Heat will open the NBA Finals Thursday (6 p.m., ABC-TV) in San Antonio.
Saint Mary's fans will have a chance to see Mills when he joins numerous Saint Mary's stars at the special Gaels Basketball All-Star Classic and Alumni Weekend later this month at McKeon Pavilion. The All-Star Classic is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff on Sunday, June 29 and will be preceded by an alumni game. General admission tickets are available for $5 by clicking here.
Currently renewed men's basketball season ticket holders, Saint Mary's students / Gael Force member, youth ages 12-and-under and current SMC faculty and staff will receive free admission.
The extent of Mills' participation in the All-Star Classic is currently unconfirmed, due to his obligations to the NBA and the Spurs.
Mills is currently averaging 6.5 points in 18 minutes per game during the playoffs and has played a pivotal defensive role for the Spurs backcourt. With the ongoing health issues of starting guard Tony Parker, Mills continues to see his playing time and role with the team increase.
The 25-year-old two-time Olympian is enjoying the best season of his NBA career.
"To go through all the hard work and put in what we have, it feels great to be back there and I'm very proud," Mills told the Canberra Times.
