SACRAMENTO — The Saint Mary’s women’s tennis team will travel up north to the state’s capital for a neutral site match against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3:30 p.m.
The Gaels are coming off a week where the team split its contest versus Washington and San Diego State.
SMC recorded an impressive 5-2 win over the Aztecs. In both matches, the doubles teams proved to be a force. The top duo of Emma Critser and Danielle McIntyre continued to roll, as the team won both of its matches in convincing fashion (6-1 vs UW, 6-2 vs SDSU).
Jana McCord and Kareena Manji were also on top of their game, as the teammates held down court 2 in doubles action. The duo also went a perfect 2-0 in last week’s action versus the Huskies and Aztecs.
The depth of SMC is something to keep an eye on, as the Gaels continue to play strong, smart tennis in singles play.
McIntyre collected her first singles win of the dual season during the victory over SDSU. The first year player from Melbourne, Australia continues to make strides, shown by her one-sided 6-2, 6-3 win.
After playing the defending Big West Conference champion Gauchos, Saint Mary’s will return home to face off against nationally-ranked No. 12 Vanderbilt. The match is set for Thursday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.
