Gael Force is the official student spirit club of Gael Athletics. Created in 2001, it has quickly grown into the largest student club on campus, reaching over 1,200 members in 2009-2010. Members play a vital role in the success of our athletic teams, as evidenced by the fact we had five teams reach the NCAA tournament in 2000-10. Gael Force's support and enthusiasm has made Saint Mary's one of the toughest places to play on the West Coast.
After the 2009 NIT matchup against Davidson, Coach Bob McKillop, had this to say about the McKeon Pavilion atmosphere, "Is this the atmosphere that they have for every game? It just blows my mind that they have this kind of crowd. This is very similar to [Duke's] Cameron [Indoor Stadium] in terms of the noise level, the heat, the intensity, the passion. Saint Mary's deserves credit for having a crowd that's that supportive."
The club has also greatly enhanced student spirit and participation on campus. Membership is open to all students of Saint Mary's College and is based on the student's academic standing.
Freshman - $50
Sophomore - $40
Junior - $30
Senior - $15

In addition to providing a boisterous student section at home games, Gael Force also goes on road trips to support Saint Mary's teams. In years past they have traveled to Berkeley to watch our volleyball team defeat Cal in the NCAA Tournament, to USF and Santa Clara to support men's basketball and also to the WCC Basketball Tournament in Las Vegas.
