SPOKANE, Wash. — In a clash of top tier West Coast Conference teams, Saint Mary’s (9-7, 4-2 WCC) fell to Gonzaga (14-2, 5-1 WCC) with a 4-0 decision Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs won some crucial points in the doubles matches en route to the 1-0 lead. Paired as the top doubles team, Kareena Manji and Jana McCord delivered the team’s lone victory in doubles action. The duo took advantage of early poor services from GU, and capitalized in key situations for the 6-4 win.

Clementine Clement and Jacqueline Pelletier nearly pulled through with a win on court 3, but fell, 6-4. The Bulldogs would claim the victory on court 2 to secure the doubles point heading into singles.

The Bulldogs singles’ players made quick work of the Gaels, winning the the first, third, and sixth seed matches in straight sets to seal the victory. Parminder Kaur was handily defeating her opponent 6-3, 4-1 in the fifth spot before the match was called. Pelletier’s and Manji’s singles’ matches also went unfinished.

Saint Mary’s will have a quick turnaround as they stay in the Pacific Northwest to take on Portland (7-9, 3-3 WCC) tomorrow at 10 a.m. Live streams and stats for the event can be found on the Gaels’ women’s tennis schedule page.
