DAVIS, Calif. — Four lead changes and scoring in all but one inning marked a wild mid-week non-conference matchup Tuesday between Saint Mary's and UC Davis, with the Aggies emerging victorious 11-10 after fighting off a late Gaels rally at Dobbins Baseball Complex.

The Gaels (28-16) loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth and nearly tied the game, falling short with the tying run on third base and lead RBI man Kevin Milam at the plate, who would pop out to end it. Saint Mary's held two different leads Tuesday. It jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first frame and eventually led 4-2 through three. It then overcame a 7-4 deficit with four unanswered runs in the sixth through eighth.

UC Davis (13-23) rallied for the win with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, three of them unearned. A one-out fielding error by the Gaels preceded four straight singles, three of those bringing home runs. After it was over the Aggies had regained an 11-8 lead with one inning to go on its second multi-run frame of the day.

Eight SMC starters had at least one hit and four Gaels had multi-hit days. Edward Haus led all players going 4 for 6 with a double, two RBIs and run scored. Andrew Shebloski entered the game as a pinch-hitter and would go on to finish 2 for 3 with a run scored. Conor Thane went 2 for 3 and scored a career-high three runs from the ninth spot in the order.

Saint Mary's pitchers only gave up two extra-base hits Tuesday after surrendering eight home runs last week. But four of UC Davis' nine singles brought home runs, and two of its six walks came with the bases loaded. The Aggies used seven pitchers in the win, with six of the surrendering runs.
