After the home opener versus LMU on Thursday, Dec. 28, SMC will have a quick turnaround to face BYU on Dec. 30 at the Marriott Center. SMC swept BYU last season, including an impressive road win, 70-57.

In the second week of conference action, the Gaels will return home and host back-to-back games to start the new year. SMC will first take on the Pacific Tigers on Jan. 4, followed by San Diego on Saturday, Jan. 6.

SMC will remain in the Bay Area to face cross bay rivals Santa Clara at the Leavey Center on Jan. 11. Two days later, the Gaels will be in Malibu, where SMC defeated Pepperdine by a margin of 29 points on Feb. 23, 2017.

The big showdown versus Gonzaga will first happen on Thursday, Jan. 18, in Spokane. GU will be coming off a road match at San Francisco prior to facing SMC.

The Gaels will remain on the road to face Pacific on Jan. 20. SMC currently has a nine game win streak versus the Tigers, and have won the last five games at the Alex G Spanos Center.

Five days later, SMC will begin an important three-game home stretch. BYU will come to McKeon Pavilion for another exciting game, as the Gaels have won the last three matchups versus the Cougars. Saint Mary's will then host Portland on Jan. 27, and end the home stretch versus Bay Area rival San Francisco on Feb. 1.

On Feb. 3, the Gaels will head down to southern California to play at San Diego, followed by a road contest at LMU on Feb. 8. SMC has defeated the Toreros in seven straight games, and currently ride an 11-game win streak versus the Lions. The Gaels have not lost at LMU since Jan. 2006.

Coming back home from Los Angeles, the Gaels will host GU for what will be another packed house at McKeon Pavilion. SMC and the Zags will square off for another intense game on Feb. 10.

In the following week, the Gaels will have a tough schedule beginning at USF on Feb. 15. After taking on the Dons, SMC will then travel back up the Pacific Northwest to face the Pilots at the Chiles Center. The last time the Gaels were at UP, SMC dominated from the opening whistle to win, 74-33.

SMC will conclude the conference slate with consecutive home contests. The Gaels will first host the Waves on Feb. 22, and finish WCC action versus SCU.
