HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Saint Mary’s softball team piled up the hits against Hawaii but could not get the key RBI as the Gaels fell to host Hawaii 6-0 on Sunday afternoon on the UH campus.

The Gaels were seeded No. 2 in the four team invitational after defeating Hawaii on Friday. The field was tough with North Carolina and San Jose State (title winner) also in the mix.

The Gaels would strand nine runners on base against UH as Erica Musgrave led the Gaels with a 2-for-3 afternoon. Brittany Sabatini, Cassidy Szeredy, Sarah Lira, Christine Torrise and Katelyn Mamizuka also had hits for SMC.

UH scored all of its runs in the third and sixth innings. Katie Moss took the loss going 2.1 innings, allowing four runs and four hits. Lira gave up two runs in 3.2 innings, while Lujane Mussadi pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

After 15 games away from Moraga to start the season, the Gaels return home next weekend, hosting the Gael Classic. Boise State and Sacramento State are also in the field.
