MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's tennis team opened West Coast Conference action on Tuesday with a 5-2 loss to San Francisco at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex. After the Gaels won the doubles point, the Dons stormed back in singles play to win on five-of-six courts and claim the victory.

Saint Mary's falls to 4-9 with the loss, while San Francisco improves to 3-9 on the season.

In doubles play, the Gaels earned the first point of the day with wins on courts one and two. After USF claimed a win on court three, Saad Benkirane and Maxime Olivan teamed up on court two to defeat Richard Bucalem and Bernardo Saraiva, 8-4. Steven Dawson-Roberts and Joakim Norstrom clinched the doubles point on court one with an 8-4 win over William Schumacher and Jonathon Knowlman.

The Dons were too much for the Gaels in singles play and claimed wins on five-of-six courts to earn the win. Highlighting the day for Saint Mary's was sophomore Seif El Sherbini. The native of Cairo, Egypt defeated Bucalem on court five, 6-3, 6-1. The singles win for El Sherbini was his fourth straight.

The Gaels will return to action this weekend with a pair of WCC matches in the Pacific Northwest. Saint Mary's will take on Gonzaga on Friday, March 23 and then head to Portland for a match on Sunday, March 25.
