MORAGA, Calif. -- Just days after a hard-fought win over Cal Poly, the Saint Mary's men's basketball team will now strike out on the road in search of another victory as the Gaels travel to take on Drake in a non-bracketed game of the DIRECTV Classic.

There is no television coverage of Wednesday's 5 p.m. contest, but fans can listen to a live audio stream on SMCGaels.com. Play by play man Alex Jensen will have the call as the Gaels play the Bulldogs before coming back to McKeon for four of their next five games.

Saint Mary's (5-2) heads to Des Moines, Iowa on the heels of its most balanced offensive game of the season. Five players scored in double figures against Cal Poly, with Brad Waldow's 17 points representing the high mark in a 86-68 victory.

Matthew Dellavedova scored 13 points in the win, but contributed more to the team's balance on the scoresheet by dishing out a season-high nine assists.

He also moved up a notch on the school's all-time scoring list, passing Peter Thibeaux to move into sixth place with 1,496 points.

The game also represented something of a landmark for Dellavedova's Australian countryman, Matt Hodgson. The transfer from Southern Utah posted a career-high 13 points, going 6 for 7 from the floor in the victory.

Team depth was also on display in the win over Cal Poly. With Stephen Holt out due to injury, Jorden Page stepped into the lineup and scored 12 points in his first start of the season. Mitchell Young added 11 points, going 4 for 5 from the line in just 20 minutes of action.

Drake (3-3) returns home to host the Gaels after playing its last five away from Des Moines. The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the Anaheim portion of the DIRECTV Classic, then went to Reno, Nev. and beat Nevada 76-66 as part of the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge.

Four Bulldogs enter the game with a double figure scoring average, led by 16.3 points per game from forward Ben Simons. Jordan Clarke averages 12.8 points a contest, and was named to the all-tournament team in Anaheim.

Drake went 18-16 last season, tying for third in the Missouri Valley Conference with an 8-8 mark under head coach Mark Phelps. The Bulldogs returned four starters from that team this season. Simons is the top returning scorer, and was a preseason All-MVC pick.

Saint Mary's and Drake have only met once before, with the Gaels earning a 72-66 win over the visiting Bulldogs in 2007. Carlin Hughes led the Gaels that day, sinking five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 18 points.

The trip marks the first time Saint Mary's has traveled to the state of Iowa since 1954, when the Gaels took on the University of Iowa.
