As a sophomore (2008-09): Appeared in every Gaels’ game this season, making 13 starts, including the last 12 games...scored in double figures five times, including a career-high 22 points on ESPNU BracketBusters weekend against No. 23 Utah State...was 6-for-6 from the floor against Utah State, while making 9-of-11 shots from the free throw his 12 starts, is averaged 9.4 points per game...scored 20 points against Portland on Feb. 14 when he shot 5-for-6 from the field, while making all four 3-point shooting a team-best 41.5 percent from beyond the arc...made 3-of-4 3-pointers against Pacific (12/23/08)...posted multiple assists in 19 games this season, including five separate five-assist games...had a career-high three steals against Fresno State on Nov. 17...grabbed a career-high four rebounds in the season finale against LMU...played double-digit minutes in 28-of-29 games.

As a freshman (2007-08): Appeared in 21 games, all as a reserve...played 10 or more minutes in five games...was 6-for-18 from the field and 3-for-10 for the season from behind the arc...dished out 18 assists to only eight turnovers in his time on the floor...had a career-high five points and three rebounds against CS Bakersfield...also had two blocks on the year.

High School: Prepped at Dobson High School in Mesa, Ariz. ... lettered three years in basketball and baseball ... scored a school record 1,650 points in his career ... also had a school record 545 career assists at Dobson HS ... helped the Mustangs post a 42-19 overall record, while leading his team to the state playoffs in 2006 and 2007 ... guided team to a 23-7 overall record while averaging 20.6 points, 7.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 1.9 3-pointers per game as a senior ... was named the 2007 East Valley Region Player of the Year...following his senior season, also garnered Arizona First Team All-State selection by the Arizona Republic ... was named to the East Valley 5A Regional Team for the second year in a row ... Personal: Born Richard Barton McConnell on April 14, 1989 ... parents are Pam and Rick ... his father, Rick, serve as basketball coach at Dobson HS, was a member of the University of Arizona’s 1976 College World Series Championship baseball team ... has an older brother named Matt (23) that plays baseball in the Phillies minor league system ... cousin, Kennedy, plays softball at the University of Virginia ... grandfather Dick, is the winningest high school basketball coach in the state of Arizona.
