SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Amanda Arter and Hayley Hendricksen of the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team earned spots on the 2013-14 West Coast Conference All-Academic honorable mention team, it was announced by the conference office on Friday.
Arter is a junior and maintains a 3.35 GPA in Accounting. She has appeared in all but one game this season, starting 11 times, averaging 14.1 minutes per game. Arter is shooting 45 percent from the field and scored a career-high 12 points in a win over Brigham Young.
Hendricksen is also a junior and maintains a 3.443 GPA in Biopsychology. She is often the first player off the bench of the Gaels, playing in all but one game with four starts. She is averaging 18.3 minutes per game and has converted 80 percent of her free-throw attempts. She has season highs of 10 points and seven rebounds.
To be eligible, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 GPA and have completed at least one-year academically at the participating institution.
The 2013-14 WCC All-Academic Team consisted of Kim Beeston (BYU), Sophia Ederaine (USD), Nici Gilday (SCU), Sunny Greinacher (GU), Jennifer Hamson (BYU), Amy Kame (USD), Karri Luttinen (POR), Haiden Palmer (GU), Bria Richardson (PEP) and Paige Spietz (USF).
The honorable mention team included Arter (SMC), Hendricksen (SMC), Grace Leah Baughn (PEP), Erin Boettcher (POR), Erin Butler (PAC), Shelby Cheslek (GU), Lexi Eaton (BYU), Ashley Garfield (BYU), Alexa Hardick (USF), Brooke Jelniker (USD), Jamie Katuna (USF), Kylie Maeda (BYU), Sam Pettinger (PAC), Amy Pupa (POR), Lindsay Sherbert (GU) and Ruta Zurauskyte (SCU).
