MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team has added two post players in Lisa Janko and Devon Brookshire, announced head coach Paul Thomas.  Janko will be a freshman in 2014-15 and will be eligible immediately.  Brookshire is a junior transfer from Northwestern and will sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

Janko (6-foot-1, Fr., F, Essen, Germany/Rhein MB II) most recently played for the Germany U16 and U18 squads.  In 2013-14, Janko played in 19 games for Rhein MB II and averaged 6.8 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game in just under 20 minutes per game.  She converted 42-of-112 from the field and also added 1.2 steals per game.  She scored in double figures in four games with three double-doubles last season.  She had single game highs of 22 points and 12 rebounds.

Brookshire (6-foot-2, Jr., F, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Northwestern/Bishop Montgomery) will have two seasons of eligibility for SMC beginning with the 2015-16 season.  In two seasons combined at Northwestern, Brookshire has appeared in 38 games with five starts.  Her high games include seven points and five rebounds.  Last year Brookshire was named Academic All-Big Ten.

Earlier this year, the Gaels announced the signings of two talented freshmen in Stella Beck (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) and Carly Turner (Eltham, Victoria, Austrailia).  SMC will also have a trio of players who missed all of 2013-14 in Valerie Moore, Alia McCoy and Devyn Galland.
