MORAGA, Calif. – The Saint Mary’s lacrosse team returns to action on Sunday when it hosts San Diego State in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match-up at 1:00 p.m. on SMC Recreation Field.
In two games this year, the Gaels have found the net frequently, scoring a combined 21 goals in the two losses.
Saint Mary’s is led by Krista Morgan with a team high six points, coming on three goals and three assists. Allie DeBruhl is the goals leader with five goals, while Jaclyn Biggers has scored four times. Meagan Bennett has added three goals, while Anne Neuweiler is another multiple goal scorer with two.
In goal, Katherine Herzog and Sydney Pinello have each started one game. Pinello has played more minutes at over 78, making 20 total saves.
Rachel Minarovich continues to be strong in draw controls, tying a school-record with 11 in a single-match last week against Harvard. In her career, Minarovich is up to 133, which is just shy of the SMC all-time record held by former Gael Colette Spencer with 141 from 2001-04.
The Gaels are 0-3 all-time against the Aztecs. SDSU faces Cal on Friday night, before heading to Moraga on Sunday.
San Diego State opened up the year playing road matches at Davidson in an 11-10 win and at Winthrop in a 15-11 win.
SDSU is led by Meris Walsh with five goals, while Bailey Ewing and Michaela Jarvis have scored four times apiece. The goalie is Katrina Reeves with 10 saves and a 10.50 goals against average.
After this week, the Gaels will have a week off before hosting Robert Morris on Friday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m.
