RMU scored six of the first seven goals of the game to take an early lead that would not get closer than seven goals the rest of the way.
Saint Mary’s was led by Rachel Minarovich, Jaclyn Biggers and Krista Morgan with two goals apiece. Anna Turpit and Allie DeBruhl added a goal each. Minarovich had seven draw controls which puts her as the all-time leader at SMC with 142 career draw controls in this, just her third season on campus.
Emily Kuptz led the Gaels with nine draw controls and five caused turnovers.
The Colonials were led by Emily Jamison and Jess Rutherford as the duo scored three goals apiece. Jessica Karwacki had 14 draw controls.
RMU took 42 shots compared to 29 by the Gaels. Saint Mary’s held a 21-15 edge in shots in the second half. SMC also edged out RMU in ground balls by a 19-16 total.
RMU held a 17-10 edge in draw controls while the turnovers were even at 19 apiece.
Sydney Pinello had 14 saves in goal for the Gaels.
Saint Mary’s is back in action on Saturday, March 22nd when it travels to Stanford to take on the Cardinal at 12:00 p.m.
