MORAGA, Calif. — Joe Rahon was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 5-11 after helping No. 20 Saint Mary’s split the week of action.
In the tough loss to UTA Thursday night, Rahon was one of the bright spots, filling up the stat sheet with eight points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Defense by the senior guard has been spectacular all season long, as Rahon delivered a block and a steal versus the Mavericks.
In the 84-53 win over UC Irvine, Rahon rose defensively, shutting down the Anteaters’ lead man, Jaron Martin to just four points on 2 of 7 shooting.
On the season, Rahon is averaging 7.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. He is tied with backcourt teammate Emmett Naar for most assists (49) and is second on the team with six blocks. The San Diego, Calif. native is a vital part of the Gaels, as he is 15th in the country in minutes per game (36.5).
Saint Mary’s returns to the floor at McKeon Pavilion Wednesday night (Dec. 14) to face the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
