MORAGA, Calif. — Carly Turner was named Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 12-18 after posting her first career double-double in a 75-65 win over Northern Colorado on Friday.
Turner scored a team-high 18 points and tied a career high with 10 rebounds. All 10 of Turner’s rebounds came on the defensive end. She made three 3-pointers and also had a game-high four assists. Turner has been the Gaels’ leading scorer three times this season, leading rebounder twice and lead assists person on four occasions.
The victory over Northern Colorado served as head coach Paul Thomas’ 200th at the helm of the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball program. A 10-plus-years tenure with the Gaels has equated to 200 victories, seven straight WNIT appearances and 14 all-West Coast Conference player awards.
The Gaels take a 10-day break for the holidays before opening WCC play at home versus Loyola Marymount on Dec. 29. Tickets are available by visiting the SMCGaels.com tickets website or by calling the SMC Tickets Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
