MORAGA, Calif.— Kami Gray, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Saint Mary’s has been selected by President James Donahue to serve as the College’s interim Director of Athletics and Recreation. Gray will succeed current AD Mark Orr, who recently resigned to accept a new opportunity as the AD at Sacramento State.
“I am very pleased to have Kami Gray accept this interim position,” said President Donahue. “She has been with the College for more than 14 years, and is a talented administrator with a deep understanding of our athletics and recreational sports department. I believe we are in good hands. She is an accomplished alumna, and as a former student-athlete —she played softball for the College— she understands the concerns and needs of our student-athletes. I encourage our community to join me in welcoming and supporting her in this important role for the College.”
Gray '02, ME '06, was appointed as Senior Associate AD for Finance and Internal Operations, and Senior Woman Administrator in the fall of 2016, and is a key member of the senior administration team with the Gaels. She supervises several varsity sports programs, oversees all finances for SMC’s intercollegiate athletic programs, NCAA compliance matters, and helped in the development of the new Strategic Plan for the Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports.
Gray said it is a genuine privilege to serve as the Interim AD for the College.
“I am really honored to be named the Interim Athletic Director at Saint Mary's College and look forward to working even closer with President Donahue, our coaches, support staff and others at Saint Mary's to continue the great success we have experienced during Mark Orr's tenure as athletic director.”
In addition to her role as Senior Associate AD for Finance and Internal Operations, and Senior Woman Administrator, Gray has served as Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance/SWA, Assistant Athletic Director for Business and Finance and has participated in a variety of critical committees and student support groups, including the College’s Sexual Assault Crisis Response Team, Title IX Committee and the Campus Athletic and Recreational Sports Committee
Gray earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from SMC in 2002, her CLAD Credential (Multiple Subject Professional Clear Credential) from the College in 2004 and her Master of Education in Instruction from Saint Mary’s in 2006.
