DAVIS, Calif. — Saint Mary’s (10-12) will take a short trip to UC Davis this weekend for the Aggie Tournament, taking place from Mar. 17-19. The Gaels will face off against North Dakota State, UC Davis, and Princeton during the three day span.

Saint Mary’s will begin the tournament on Friday with games against North Dakota State (10-14) at 11 a.m. and UC Davis (9-17) at 1:15 p.m. Saturday will feature the same teams again with a 9 a.m. matchup versus NDSU followed by a 1:15 p.m. game against the Aggies. The Gaels take on Princeton (1-3) on Sunday at 11 a.m. to wrap up the action.

SMC will look to get back on track after a 1-3 performance at the Nevada Classic this past weekend. Despite the three loses, the Gaels were able to put up 20 runs during the four game set, including a season-high nine runs against Nevada. The increased offense is a good sign for the Gaels who currently sit tied for last in the West Coast Conference in runs scored.

Hailey Sparacino remains an important part of the Gaels’ lineup and is among the league leaders in several offensive categories. She is second in the WCC in both doubles (7) and runs batted in (19), to say nothing of her .308 batting average. Nikki Alexander leads the Gaels with a .333 batting average, good for eighth in the conference, and also shares the conference lead in triples with two.

Pitching has helped the Gaels win close games this season and the team leads the WCC in ERA at 2.82. Katie Moss and Eryn McCoy sit at fifth and sixth, respectively, in conference ERA. Moss ranks second in the WCC in strikeouts at 47 in 63.1 innings pitched.

Live stats for the weekend tournament can be found on the Gaels’ softball schedule page. Results and recaps will be posted at the end of each day’s action at
