Saint Mary’s 3, North Dakota 2
The Gaels rallied in the seventh inning to plate the game-winning run and steal a victory from North Dakota (11-16). Bailey Lotz and Halle Sullivan got on base for Saint Mary’s with singles and then Giana Bilotta delivered an RBI single to right field to score Lotz. Bilotta is batting .250 on the season.
Eryn McCoy (2-3) pitched a complete game for the Gaels and earned her second win of the season. McCoy allowed only five hits and one earned run against the Bisons and struck out five batters.
UC Davis 1, Saint Mary’s 0
Andrea Reynolds was the difference maker for the Aggies (12-17) in the afternoon game as she pitched a complete game shutout against the Gaels to secure a win for her team.
Saint Mary’s could only muster five hits against Reynolds who kept SMC off the basepaths for the majority of the game. Alexander and Hannah Chew each had two hit games for the Gaels and Abbey Mariani had a single but the rest of the lineup sputtered.
Katie Moss (6-5) picked up the tough luck loss as she limited the Aggies to just one run. Moss struck out eight UC Davis batters in just six innings and allowed just three hits in the loss. The Aggies scored their only run of the game in the first inning on an RBI single.
Saint Mary’s returns to the field tomorrow for a doubleheader against North Dakota and UC Davis again. The Gaels will play the Bisons at 9 a.m. followed by a matchup against the Aggies at 1:15 p.m. Live stats for the games can be found on the Gaels’ softball schedule.
