DAVIS, Calif. — Saint Mary’s (11-16) wrapped up the Aggie Invitational Sunday afternoon with a single game versus Princeton which saw the Gaels fall, 5-1.
SMC was just able to collect two hits on the day as the single run was scored by second baseman Nikki Alexander. After getting on base due to a walk, Alexander ran the bases hard after Dylan Linton blasted a triple in the right center gap to tie the game, 1-1.
The Tigers would make their surge in the bottom-fifth inning, scoring four runs. Princeton would secure four hits in the inning, and only strand a single baserunner in the frame.
First year pitcher Eryn McCoy got the nod in the mound and pitched 4.1 innings, giving up seven hits. Senior Katie Moss would come in for relief of the freshman, pitching 1.2 innings and allowing just one hit.
SMC will be back home for the first time in nearly a month, hosting Northwestern on Tuesday, March 21 at 3 p.m. The Gaels then have a doubleheader versus Princeton on Wednesday, March 22. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Cottrell Field.
