KOHALA COAST, Hawaii — Connor Blick led the Gaels on Saturday afternoon with a 4-under 72 showing and Saint Mary’s finished 12th of 21 teams to conclude the 26th Annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate.

Blick tied the Gaels’ best single round performance at this year’s tournament with his 4-under score and improved by seven strokes from the day before. In addition to jumping up 33 places in the standings on the final day, Blick ended the weekend with a 5-over 216.

Hunter Rappleye had the best overall performance in the tournament for Saint Mary’s, finishing up with round scores of 75-68-73. The senior from Sacramento, Calif. placed in the top half of the leaderboard and landed at tied-50th after the final round.

As a team, Saint Mary’s finished in the middle of the pack with a 2-under round on Saturday and shot 1-over in the entire tournament. Only one other non-nationally ranked team performed better than the Gaels (TCU) and Saint Mary’s finished three strokes ahead of No. 12 Auburn.

For the rest of the Gaels, Roman Aragon shot his best round of the tournament on the final day with a 2-under score to finish at 3-over. Perry Cohen finished the day with a 3-over score and Eduardo Carrete shot an uncharacteristic 8-over but still managed to conclude the Amer Ari with a 2-over score thanks to impressive play on the first two days of competition.

Looking forward, the Gaels will play their next tournament at The Prestige in La Quinta, Calif. from Feb. 20-22. Saint Mary’s finished tied-7th of 15 teams at The Prestige last year and it will be a familiar sight for the team as four of last year’s competitors remain on the Gaels’ roster including Rappleye, Blick, Cohen, and Pavan Sagoo.
