LA QUINTA, Calif. — Perry Cohen led all Gaels on the second day of The Prestige on Tuesday as the junior shot an even 71 to remain at 1-over par in the tournament.
Cohen jumped four spots in the standings with his performance and now sits within the top 20 competitors after two rounds. Roman Aragon followed up his stellar top-5 finish in the opening round with a 1-over 72 score to remain in the hunt and sits in tenth place. The Southern California native notched five birdies in the middle round but a triple bogey on the third hole would come back to haunt him on the scoresheet.
The Gaels slipped two spots as the team combined for a 8-over score and head into the final round tied-9th of the 13 teams. Saint Mary’s sits 14 strokes back of first place LSU at 1-over while No. 8 Stanford and No. 14 San Diego State are just one and two strokes out of the lead, respectively. Individually, Jared duToit from Arizona State leads the pack with a combined 8-under score.
Pavan Sagoo improved by three strokes over his Monday showing to finish the day with a 4-over 75 round and freshman Eduardo Carrete finished 3-over 74 to remain in the top half of all golfers. Hunter Rappleye improved by two strokes from yesterday with a 7-over 78 round score.
Saint Mary’s will tee off tomorrow morning on the final day of the tournament. Results and recaps can be found at the end of the day on SMCGaels.com. Additionally, fans can follow the action on the tournament’s page via GolfStat or by clicking here.
