GOLF | Gaels Finish 6th at Desert Mountain Intercollegiate

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — On the final day of the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate tournament, the Gaels shot a 6-over 294 round to finish sixth in the field of twelve. Blake Hathcoat and Eduardo Carrete each shot even 72’s to lead the Gaels on the final day.

The third round score represented Hathcoat’s best performance of the tournament. Carrete shot a 1-under 71 in the opening round on Saturday and maintained his consistency with Sunday’s showing.

Perry Cohen and Pavan Sagoo also shared similar scores on Sunday, each finishing 3-over 75. The scores were the highest of the weekend for the duo but both Gaels still ended the tournament in the top-10 at t-8th in the field of 66. Connor Blick rounded out the Gaels’ golfers with a 4-over 76 to finish at 8-over for the tournament.

No. 44 Michigan won the competition by two strokes over No. 43 Northwestern, finishing 13-under. The Wolverines had two golfers within the top six competitors, including a second place finish by Reed Hrynewich. Lee Hodges from Alabama sat atop the leaderboard following Sunday’s action with a 10-under score for the weekend.

Saint Mary’s will play their next tournament at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic in Chula Vista, Calif. from Monday, Mar. 13-14. Previews, results and recaps can be found for the tournament on
