MORAGA, Calif. — After two home matches last week, the Saint Mary’s women’s tennis heads back to the courts this week, as the Gaels will head to the South Bay to face San Jose State on Friday, March 3. First serve is expected at 1: 30 p.m. The match will be held at the Almaden Valley Athletic Club.

The Gaels (2-5) are coming off a dominant 6-1 win over Fresno State and a well-fought loss versus nationally-ranked No. 14 Vanderbilt.

In the win over the Bulldogs, the Gaels rolled with wins on five of the six singles courts, and claimed the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions.

Senior Jana McCord continues to be the top singles player for the Gaels, holding down the No. 1 position in the ladder. McCord collected her second win of the dual season with the 6-1, 6-1 win versus FSU.

Parminder Kaur offers the experience and steady play, as the senior is now 3-1 as the No. 6 player for SMC. Kaur holds an overall record of 4-3 in singles competition during the dual season.

The Gaels continue to be strong in double play, as the team holds an overall record of 14-11 in doubles action. Top duo, Emma Critser and Danielle McIntyre are 3-2 in dual competition and 4-2 overall.

In the No. 2 spot, McCord and Kareena Manji are equally as impressive with an identical 4-2 record.
