MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's women's tennis team will add an international prospect to the squad with the addition of Aubane Ville, the team announced today.
A native of Le daupiné, France, Ville brings global success and great talent from the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
During her years as a junior on the ITF tour, Ville reached the semifinal of a major tournament in Luxembourg. Standing at 5-3, Ville was also ranked No. 800 in the ITF junior rankings en route to regional championships and playing in the national championship at the famed clay courts of the French Open at Roland Garros in Paris.
Recruited by several schools such as Fresno State, USF, DePaul and Tennessee, Ville ultimately chose to become a Gael.
“I chose Saint Mary's because I had a very good feeling and connection with head coach Lisa Alipaz and associate head coach Simon Harston,” said Ville. “I firmly believe this is the right place for me to reach my academic and tennis goals. The campus is amazing and looks beautiful, and I'm sure I will feel home there.”
A multi-sport athlete, Ville lettered in multiple sports during her time at Aristide Berges High School. She participated in badminton, handball, swimming, track and field, gymnastics and dance.
Daughter to Christophe and Nathalie, Aubane has two older siblings, Gabin and Malo. Aubane currently resides in Grenoble, France and hopes to one day play on the professional circuit in the WTA.
