MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary’s women’s tennis (6-5, 1-0 WCC) notched four singles wins to claim the conference opening victory over a very talented LMU squad (7-4, 1-1) Saturday afternoon at Timothy Korth Tennis Complex.

Saint Mary’s will host West Coast Conference favorite, No. 14 Pepperdine tomorrow at 10 a.m.

After dropping the doubles point, the Gaels played tough points and showed their determination on the court to turn the tables in singles action.

First year player Jacqueline Pelletier showcased her power and strong all-around game in a three-set battle. All three sets would go into the tiebreak, as Pelletier pulled out the victory, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6.

Clementine Clement improves to 4-2 on court 3 in singles play after today’s straight-set win. Clement dominated LMU’s Siobhan Anderson, 6-0, 6-4.

Kareena Manji won her fourth consecutive match in a tight, back-and-forth contest. The junior put a stamp on the final set, 6-2, to clinch the win for the Gaels.

Senior Parminder Kaur continued her hot streak in the sixth slot for SMC, defeating Tatijana Sheikhan, 6-3, 6-3.
