In conjunction with the announcement of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament pairings, the Saint Mary’s College athletic department invites the public to a Selection Sunday party this Sunday (March 15) at 2:00 p.m. in Dryden Hall.
The Gaels hope to be selected as one of the 34 at-large bids for the 2009 NCAA Tournament after jumping out to an 18-1 start and finishing the season with a 25-6 record despite losing starting guard Patty Mills. If the Gaels defeat Eastern Washington in their final home game, they will set the College’s record for wins in a season.
Doors to Dryden Hall will open in advance of the selection show at 2:00 p.m. A no-host bar will be located adjacent to Dryden Hall. The selection show, which will be broadcast live by CBS beginning at 3:00 pm, will be shown at the event. Because the team is hoping for an at-large bid, the coaches and players will be viewing the event in a separate location, but will join the general public once they have been announced in the field of 65.
The celebration party will also include a video with highlights from this year’s season.
