MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary's cross country program announced the addition of five new student-athletes to the men's team for the 2017-18 school year, bringing championship experience and an impressive collection of awards to the Gaels.
“We have a very strong returning men's roster,” said Saint Mary's assistant coach Brett Zorich. “The freshmen coming in will have a lot of great men to look up to and learn from. We are excited to see what the incoming men can do.”

Jake Echner – San Ramon, Calif. (Dougherty Valley HS)
Intended Major at SMC: Business Administration
Achievements: A three-time letterwinner in both cross country and track for at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon ... Specialized in the middle-to-long distances (800 meters, 1,600, 3,200), earning a top-10 finish in the mile at the Diablo Athletic League finals in 2016 ... Helped the Wildcats win back-to-back DAL championships in 2015 and '16 ... Was also a member of DVHS' 2016 North Coast Section championship team ... Earned team awards for Most Improved, Most Inspirational, Coaches' Award and Wildcat Award.
Brady Lance – Portland, Ore. (Central Catholic HS)
Intended Major at SMC: Undecided
Achievements: Was part of four straight Oregon School Activities Association 6A cross country state championships at Central Catholic High School in Portland, Ore. ... Won six letters in cross country (4) and track (2) ... As a senior, was named first team all-Mount Hood Conference and all-OSAA honorable mention ... Ran the 1,500 and 3,000 in track, posting personal bests of 4:08.45 and 9:01.82, respectively ... Also broke the 16-minute mark in the cross country 5,000 ... Named “Best Teammate” of 2016 cross country season.
Dominic Littlejohn – Brentwood, Calif. (Heritage HS)
Intended Major at SMC: Engineering
Achievements: A six-time letterwinner in cross country (3) and track (3) for Heritage High School in Brentwood ... Was a first team all-Blossom Valley Athletic League honoree in cross country as a junior in 2015 ... Also earned multiple all-BVAL honors in track as a senior in 2017 ... Specialized in the middle distances, breaking the two-minute mark in the 800 and helping his 4x800 relay team break the eight-minute mark.
Alex Riggsby – Reno, Nev. (Damonte Ranch HS)
Intended Major at SMC: Undecided
Achievements: Won varsity letters all four years in both cross country and track at Damonte Ranch High School in Reno, Nev. ... School record holder in the 3,200 with a time of 9:46.17 ... Was named to the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association cross country all-region second team as a senior in 2016 ... Was a NIAA All-Academic honoree all four years ... Earned the DRHS Track and Field Coaches' Award (MVP) ... Earned a top-10 finish in the mile at the 2017 Sacramento Meet of Champions.
Cole Snyder – Zephyr Cove, Nev. (George Whittell HS)
Intended Major at SMC: Kinesiology
Achievements: A four-time state champion in track at George Whittell High School in Zephyr Cove, Nev., winning two NIAA 3,200 titles and a 1,600 title, as well as part of a 4x800 relay title ... Finished fourth at the NIAA state cross country championship ... Named all-state in cross country three times ... Won team MVP award in cross country three times and track twice while also being named “Track and Field Most Decorated Runner” ... Earned letters in three sports including three each in cross country and track, and another in basketball.
