LAX | Gaels Host Buffs, at Oregon in Final Week of Season

MORAGA, Calif. — With the final week of the season, the Saint Mary’s lacrosse team will host its last home game of 2017 versus nationally-ranked No. 9 Colorado (13-2, 5-1 MPSF) on Friday, April 21, before heading up north to play at Oregon (8-7, 4-3 MPSF) on Sunday.

The Gaels (1-11, 0-6 MPSF) will host the Buffs for a 5 p.m. match. SMC will then play at Oregon at 12 p.m.

Saint Mary’s is coming off a hard-fought home loss to Fresno State, 19-7. The Gaels honored their five seniors as part of Senior Day.

Junior Jocelyn Lubert continues to pace the Gaels attack with a team-high 27 scores. Lubert scored two in the loss versus Fresno State.

First year player Jillian Dunlap has played and started in all 12 games for SMC. Dunlap is second on the squad with 18 goals and leads the team with eight assists. The 5-8 freshman leads the Gaels with 49 draw-controls and is also 4th in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Senior Sydney Pinello leads the team in saves with 37. Pinello recorded four saves in last weekend’s match versus the Bulldogs.

About Colorado

The Buffs have been one of the top teams in the nation for the entire season. CU started the season 11-0, but have dropped two of its last four matches.

The Buffs suffered their first loss at Stony Brook, 10-6, then dropped a conference match to league leading USC, 11-5.

Cu won its most recent contest at San Diego State, 17-5.

The Buffs are led by Darby Kiernan as she is fifth in conference in points (57). Kiernan leads CU with 40 goals and 17 assists.

About Oregon

Shannon Williams is the offensive catalyst for the Ducks with 43 goals and 19 assists. Williams is second in the MPSF with 62 points.

The Ducks are just 2-3 in their last five games, but are coming off a 10-9 win versus UC Davis. Before defeating the Aggies, Oregon lost a high-scoring affair to Stanford, 17-13. The Ducks also suffered losses versus then nationally-ranked No. 9 USC, 17-7, and at Virginia, 16-5.
