MORAGA, Calif. — Incoming goalkeeper for Saint Mary’s women’s soccer, Sonja Rajatalo, has been named to U-19 Finland National Team for the European Championship Qualifiers, it was announced today.
“We are excited for Sonja,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Travis Clarke. “She is a very talented player and her continued experience playing for her country at the highest levels of soccer will be very valuable for us once she comes in."
The 5-9 keeper played her club soccer at one of Finland’s top squads, ONS (Oulu Nice Soccer). Rajatalo keeps impressing her international experience, as she was a part of the U-15, U-16 and U-17 team prior to joining the u19 team.
The U-19 team will open its campaign in the Euro Championship Qualifiers versus Ukraine on April 4.
