CHICAGO — Saint Mary’s women’s soccer player Hannah Diaz will now represent her country on the U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team this spring, the United States Soccer Federation announced today.

Diaz will be one of 20 players on the roster that will compete in Orlando, Florida come April 2-8.

The all-around player for the Gaels had another spectacular campaign, leading SMC with seven goals and three assists. Diaz is now second all-time in program history in goals scored (17) and tied for fourth in assists (9).

“We are excited for Hannah,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Travis Clarke. “She is a very hard working player that has put a lot of effort and hard work in making herself better in all aspects of the game.”

Diaz played in all sorts of roles for Saint Mary’s. Whether it is playing back, holding as a central midfielder or playing up top, the dynamic player continues to show her versatility on the pitch.

“She is a very versatile player that can impact the game in a lot of ways,” said Clarke. “This opportunity will make her a better player moving forward and I am confident she will do great and represent the country well.”

While in Orlando, Diaz and the U-23 U.S. national team will compete in a closed-door match against the Orlando Pride on April 7 and a game against the University of Central Florida on April 5.
