MORAGA, Calif. — After traveling up to Washington State and Idaho in last week's action, the Saint Mary's women's soccer team returns home to host Cal State Fullerton in the third week of the 2017 campaign.

The Gaels and Titans will square off on Friday, Sept. 1, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. Live stats for the match can be found HERE.

The youthful Gaels continue to show a great level of play, as the team also competed at a high level in a tough 1-0 loss versus a top program in Washington State. The Cougars got the goal they needed off a penalty kick in the first half.

Saint Mary's (2-2-0) is coming off an impressive road win at Idaho, 1-0, as Hannah Diaz scored her second goal of the season, and 19th of her decorated career. Leading the defense with a career-high seven saves, Sarah Sawatzky continues to impress in her second season.

As part of the holiday, the Saint Mary's athletic department will present a Labor Day Fan Pass special, where tickets for each of the three soccer games will be $3. To redeem the special price, spectators can find the coupon by following @SMCGaels on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, and presenting it at the Ticket Booth the day of the game.

Through four games, the Gaels are tied for fourth in the West Coast Conference with four goals scored. The defense of SMC has been impressive, as shown by their tied for third ranking in goals allowed.

Sawatzky is currently fourth with a goals against average of 0.67. The second year keeper has a .867 saves percentage and has a total of 13 saves in her three games as the starting goalkeeper.

Cal State Fullerton (2-0-2) is coming off back-to-back double overtime draws on the road. The Titans took a trip to No. 17 BYU, followed by Utah State, with both matches finishing as 1-1 draws. The Titans opened 2017 with consecutive victories, as the Big West member defeated Seattle, 2-0, and Fresno State, 2-1.

Cal State Fullerton was picked to finish as runner-ups in the preseason Big West conference poll. After finishing 2016 with an overall record, 8-10-1, the Titans look to give reigning conference champions Long Beach State stiff competition for the conference title.

The Titans hold three Big West Championships within the past four years, and seek their seventh tournament title during their 2017 campaign.
