SMC TO REVISE PLANS FOR STUDENT ATHLETE PERFORMANCE CENTER
In response to this charge, President James Donahue tasked members of the board and College leadership to ensure the future success of Saint Mary’s Division I Athletics Program.
“I have full confidence we will ensure the goals of this crucial project for our student-athletes and fans are realized in a way that upholds the board’s responsibility to exercise fiscal prudence,” said Kevin M. Nagle, Chair, Board of Trustees.
The priorities of the project remain the same and focus on addressing the critical needs of our student-athletes, coaches, and loyal Gael fans. New and improved weight and training facilities for student-athletes will be realized by utilizing space in Madigan Gym. Plans also include upgrades for the fan experience, with many significant enhancements coming to McKeon Pavilion this season.
The College is fully committed to enhancing the fan and student-athlete experience as well as ensuring a safe facility for all who enter the doors of McKeon Pavilion. As part of this renovation, key seismic and fire safety updates will be completed following the 2017-18 season. The south wall of the Pavilion will remain in place, and improvements will be made to the student-athletes locker room facilities.
“The revised plans will maximize the effectiveness of fundraised dollars from our generous donors and loyal fans,” Donahue said. “We are committed to increase the competitiveness of our student-athletes through new and improved facilities, and provide an enhanced fan experience in McKeon Pavilion. I assure you, we will honor the generosity of all involved through this revision process. I look forward to celebrating our shared success together. Go Gaels!”
