DAVIS, Calif. -- Freshman Abigayle Mitchell set two school records in one day, and nearly every other Gael competing Saturday set personal or season-best performances, as the Saint Mary's track and field team performed at the Woody Wilson Classic hosted by UC Davis.

Mitchell set new program records in both the 200 and 400-meter dashes. She ran the 200 in 27.32 seconds, and also broke the 60-seconds barrier in the 400 with a school-record time of 59.76. Her 400 time was one of the best on the day, placing her right in the middle of a large field. The school records marked her second and third of the young season after already setting a new Saint Mary's record in the 800.

Emma McCarthy also competed in the 400 Saturday, clocking a personal best of 1:02.40. Then less than an hour later, she returned to the track and nearly ran another personal best in the 800 with a time of 2:21.63.

Abby Bolt was the Gael' highest finisher in the 1,500, running a personal-best 4:43.26 to place fifth overall. Neylene Leon won her 1,500 heat with a time of 4:49.00. Katie Watson also set a new personal record with a time of 5:03.98, finishing third in her section.

On the men's side, Nolan Dozier was the first collegiate finisher in the 1,500, running 4:00.25 to finish second overall. Noah McDermott was the second Gael on the day to win a 1,500 heat, running 4:02.16 to win a section that was full of Gaels. Moses Bojorquez (4:07.01) and Jayman Peterson (4:08.35) both ran personal bests in McDermott's heat, while Mason Labadie finished third in the same heat.

Freshman Jake Echsner joined the 1,500 heat-winners club, winning the third section with a time of 4:11.20. Fellow rookie Alex Riggsby finished second in his 1,500 section with a personal best of 4:12.54. In the 800, Tyler Gershman (1:58.97) and Daniel Ratto (2:02.30) both ran season bests.

The Gaels return to the track next weekend for their big trip to Southern California, where the team will be spread across multiple prestigious meets including the Mt. SAC Relays and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
