MORAGA, Calif. — Senior Noah McDermott was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week Monday for the week of Feb. 5-11 after his impressive performance in the men’s 3,000 meters race at the UW Indoor Open hosted by the University of Washington at Dempsey Indoor Facility.

“Noah has put in a tremendous amount of work since the day he came to campus,” said Saint Mary’s head coach Marty Kinsey. “He has constantly improved and raised the bar for himself and his teammates.”

McDermott ran the second-fastest time ever at Saint Mary's for the 3,000 meters race, clocking 8 minutes, 22.22 seconds to finish eighth in the 70-man field.

“He is the type of team leader that only comes through once every few years and we are very happy he is enjoying a successful senior campaign,” said Kinsey. “To see him make a huge personal best really sets the tone for his goals this spring.”

The Gaels will continue the spring season at the WCC Quad Meet in Orinda, Calif. on March 4 at 9 a.m. PT.
