NEW ORLEANS - The Saint Mary's men's and women's track teams were once again both named All-Academic teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association last month, proving the programs' successes on and off the track.

The women's team posted a 3.39 cumulative team Grade Point Average, while the men logged a 3.26 cumulative GPA. The women were among the top-75 teams in the country in the 218 women's programs to earn the award. The SMC men were among the country's top-50 teams out of the 142 programs to get the honor. Katie Watson's 3.67 GPA in the spring was the leader on the women's team. Mason Labadie's 3.929 GPA led the men's side.

The Gaels broke school records all season long during the spring, especially in the longer distances. Haley Dorris broke the women's school record in the 5,000 meters twice, while Noah McDermott took down the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase mark on two occasions. Both will return in the fall, along with a number of returners on both teams, as Saint Mary's kicks off its cross country season on Sept. 2 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco for the USF Invitational.
