SEATTLE -- The 2017 season came to a close Friday for both the Saint Mary's men's and women's cross country teams, as the Gaels competed in the NCAA West Regional at Jefferson Park Golf Course.


  • The SMC men finished 22nd as a team, beating eight other programs and finishing just 15 points behind Bay Area foe San Jose State.

  • Noah McDermott, in his final cross country race as a Gael, led the team with an impressive 55th-place finish. His time of 30 minutes, 46.3 seconds across the 10-kilometer course ranks fourth all-time in the Gaels' record book.

  • Sophomores Moses Bojorquez (31:40.3) and Nolan Dozier (31:45.2) ran together to score for Saint Mary's, finishing 104th and 108th, respectively.

  • Abby Bolt led the Gaels for the sixth time in six meets this season, finishing 139th in 22:11.4 across the women's 6 km course. Allie Timbrell was the Gaels' No. 2 runner, finishing 183rd in 22:45.9.

  • The foursome of Hanna English (209th, 23:22.4), Abigayle Mitchell (213th, 23:36.6), Grace DeLeon (219th, 23:50.5) and Katie Watson (225th, 24:01.0) all packed well, finishing within 39 seconds of each other.

  • The Gaels finished 33rd in the large regional field that included more than 35 full teams and over 240 runners.
