The Saint Mary's baseball team will host its Christmas Youth Camp beginning Monday at Louis Guisto Field

Ross Gusky enters his first year as an assistant coach for the Saint Mary’s baseball team in the 2018 spring season.

In 2016-17, Gusky served as a volunteer assistant coach for Saint Mary’s baseball team working with pitchers and position players, along instructing hitting and base running skills.

Prior to Saint Mary’s, Gusky worked as an assistant coach for a Valley League Baseball Team named Waynesboro Generals in Virginia in 2015-16. Gusky led his summer league program to become a #6 nationally ranked team. From 2013-15, Gusky’s served as a volunteer/graduate assistant coach for Valdosta State University while working as a pitching and hitting coach. His coaching expertise had four pitchers drafted to the MLB, and one pitcher who signed as a free agent contract in the 2017 MLB draft.

Gusky pitched professionally for the Washington Wild Things Baseball in 2011-12, where he learned daily routines of professional baseball, interacting with fans, being a role model for the community, and conducting time management and organizational skills. In 2012, he pitched internationally and coached for the Vienna Metro Stars Baseball where he lived, played, and coached in Vienna Austria.

In 2013-2015, Gusky attended Valdosta State University where he accomplished three All-GSC Pitchers, one All-Region Pitcher, and one All-American Pitcher awards. From 2005-11, Gusky noted many accomplishments from being a two-time GSC Pitcher of the Week, Gulf South Conference Champions, and a two-time South Regional Participant all taken place in Valdosta, Georgia.

Gusky’s skills as a coach examines his daily routine with pitchers and hitters through video analysis, instructions, assessments, and observations to improve player development.

Gusky received his associates degree in business at Tallahassee Community College in Florida, and a bachelors degree of general studies at Valdosta State University.
