Baseball Drops Series Finale to San Diego

Moraga, CA - The Saint Mary's baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series against the San Diego Toreros 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at Louis Guisto Field. The Gaels fell behind early and couldn't recover, but they took they won the weekend series, beating San Diego on Friday and Saturday. With the loss the Gaels drop to 3-3 in West Coast Conference action and 8-19 overall. San Diego improved to 2-7 in conference and 13-16 overall.

The Gaels fell behind early as the Toreros scored runs in each of the first four innings, including three in the third inning. After that the Gaels held them to one run in the seventh, but Saint Mary's couldn't mount a comeback. Saint Mary's starting pitcher Dane Dobrinich (0-4) took the loss, while San Diego's Kyle Collins (1-1) picked up the victory.

Offensively, the Gaels were led by Delaney Gallagher, who went 3-for-5, including two doubles, Bryan Byrne added two hits and Sam Carter had a double. The Gaels only run of the game came on an RBI single by Mike Sansoe to score Gilbert Gil.

Saint Mary's returns to action on Friday, April 2 when it travels to Los Angeles to take on the Loyola Marymount Lions at 2 p.m. Friday's game will be the first of a three-game series with LMU. Saturday and Sunday's games begin at 1 p.m.
