BSB | Gaels Host Annual Navy-Red World Series
The Saint Mary's baseball team closes out its fall season with the annual Navy-Red World Series this weekend
MORAGA, Calif. — The Saint Mary’s baseball fall season comes to an exciting conclusion this week when the Gaels host their annual Navy-Red Intersquad World Series, with games Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Louis Guisto Field.
The Gaels, winners of 37 games last spring with their second straight appearance in the West Coast Conference tournament, will host their three-game series with a single game each day beginning Thursday. Game one Thursday is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. first pitch, as is Friday’s game two. Saturday’s final game of the series is slated for a 1 p.m. start. All games are free and open to the public.
On the line in the series is the Gaels’ annual community free car wash, which they will host from 8-11 a.m. on Sunday beyond the left field wall of Louis Guisto Field on campus. The losing team of the Navy-Red World Series will have to operate the car wash. The car wash is completely free to the public.
The Gaels return eight of nine position players from last year’s postseason team and welcomed 22 newcomers this fall. SMC’s 37 wins last season were the most in four decades, since the team won a program-record 41 in 1977. The Gaels’ 2018 schedule has been released and features numerous clashes with 2017 NCAA Regional teams and Pac-12 foes. See the Gaels’ complete 2018 schedule here.
