MBK | Landale Named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — For the fourth time this season, senior center Jock Landale has been named West Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading No.16/18 Saint Mary’s (19-2, 8-0 WCC) to another undefeated week of action.

Landale is currently averaging 24.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game in conference action. The 6-11 senior led SMC to its nail biting victory at then ranked No. 13/13 Gonzaga with 26 points and 12 boards. He followed his 13th double-double with his fifth 30-point performance of the season during the 72-69 win at Pacific.

The big man continues to be the league’s most efficient player, as he is shooting 67.2 percent from the floor through eight conference games. Landale leads SMC shooting 65.7 percent from the field.
Saint Mary’s returns home this week to host BYU during Australia Day on Thursday night at 8 p.m. Thursday’s clash against the Cougars will be televised on ESPN2, and free Australia Day t-shirts will be handed out to the first 500 students in attendance. The Gaels will host Portland on Saturday night, 8 p.m. PT on NBC Sports California.
