MBK | Landale, Naar Named NABC First Team

March 13, 2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the first time in program history, Saint Mary’s placed two members on the National Association of Basketball Coaches All District First Team in the same season, as seniors Jock Landale and Emmett Naar were named All-District IX NABC First Team.

This year’s West Coast Conference Player of the Year, Landale ranked among the best collegiate centers this season while averaging 21.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in 33 games this season. The big man dominated down low with a 64.0 shooting percentage and played in over 33 minutes per contest.

Landale currently has 18 double-doubles on the season and is first in the NCAA for total field-goals made (276).

Now the program’s all-time leader in assists, senior guard Emmett Naar collects his second NABC honor of his career. The point guard was named to the NABC Second Team in 2015-16, and was recently named WCC First Team during his historic senior campaign.

Naar is just one of 17 Gaels to have earned All Conference First Team honors twice in their career. The senior led the WCC averaging a career-best eight assists per game, and is second in the country in total assists (264).

The senior recorded 10 double-digit assists games this season and is now second in all-time assists in WCC history behind San Francisco legend Orlando Smart (904).

Saint Mary’s opens the 2018 National Invitation Tournament on Tuesday night, March 13 at 7 p.m. PDT on ESPNU versus Southeastern Louisiana. Tickets can be purchased online at or by calling the ticket office between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at 925-631-GOTX.
