MBK | Landale Honored to Lou Henson Watch List

BOSTON — Saint Mary’s Jock Landale has been named to the Lou Henson Award preseason Watch List this week for his fourth prestigious watch list nomination prior to the 2017-18 season.

The Lou Henson Award is given to nation’s best Div. 1 mid-major player. The award began in 2010 and is named after men’s basketball coach Lou Henson, who won 775 games in a 41 year career between Illinois and New Mexico State.

Only players from the following conferences are eligible to receive the award: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.

Previous recipients of the award include Justin Robinson of Monmouth (2017) and Saint Mary’s legend, Matthew Dellavedova in 2013.

Other mid-major players nominated to the list include Bryce Aiken of Harvard, Anthony Lamb of Vermont, and Chima Moneke of UC Davis.

Landale led the West Coast Conference in rebounds last season (9.5) and was top-5 in several other statistical categories. The Aussie averaged nearly 17 points per contest and shot .611 from the field in his junior campaign. During the NCAA Tournament in March, Landale averaged 18.5 points and 12 rebounds in the Gaels’ two games versus VCU and Arizona.
