GOLF | Gaels End Second Round Tied-Eighth at John Burns Intercollegiate

LIHU’E, Hawai’i. — In a tougher second round at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Saint Mary’s golf remains in the top-10 of the leaderboard after shooting a 1-over 289 Friday afternoon at Wailua Golf Course.


  • Saint Mary’s sits tied-eighth at 2-under par with Grand Canyon. After a hot start in the opening round, UNLV remains at the top of the leaderboard at 21-under par. Nationally-ranked No. 4, Texas A&M sits in second at 15-under par, with Arizona in solo third at 10-under. 

  • North Carolina (-9) and BYU (-6) round out the top-5 of the 20-team leaderboard. 
  • Perry Cohen is tied-fourth at 6-under par after shooting 68-70. The senior shot eight birdies on the round with five in the back nine. 

  • Fellow senior Connor Blick sits tied-39th at 1-over after a second round 74. 

  • Brandon Jacobs bounced back with an even-par 72 on Friday. Jacobs shot an opening round 74 and is tied-47th. 

  • Pavan Sagoo fired a 1-over 73 with three birdies and four bogeys. 

  • The Gaels have the fifth most birdies (37) in the field. 

  • The start of the final round will begin at 8 a.m. HST.
