GOLF | Gaels in 6th After Day 1 of Alister Mackenzie

FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- Saint Mary's ended Day 1 of the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in sixth place out of the 16 competitors with a collective 13-under par score after two rounds. Leading the Gaels is Blake Hathcoat at 7-under par who is just six strokes back of the individual leader, K.K. Limbhaust from Cal.

Hathcoat was sitting among the top of the leaderboard at the end of the first round after shooting a 6-under par 71. The sophomore rattled off five birdies in the back nine of the opening round and currently sits at tied-7th heading into the final round.

Cal, who is hosting the Alister Mackenzie, currently leads the field at 29-under. San Diego State and Santa Clara currently round out the top-3 at 22- and 20-under par, respectively.

The final round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning at 7:40 a.m. Live stats for the round can be found HERE.


  • Connor Blick, who finished tied-6th at the tournament last season, shot a 2-under opening round is second on the Gaels at 3-under par thus far.
  • Perry Cohen had an eagle on the par-5 15th hole. He also had a birdie on the 14th and 16th holes. 
  • Hathcoat managed seven total birdies in the opening round. 

  • Pavan Sagoo opened the round with an eagle on the first hole on a par-5.
  • Cohen recorded five birdies in the second round. 
  • Ash Hakim notched three birdies to finish at even. 
  • All five Gaels finished in the top half of the leaderboard. 
  • Blick is tied for 22nd while Cohen is close behind at 26th.
