PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Saint Mary’s wrapped their host tournament on Wednesday with a 2-over par team score to finish sixth at this year’s Saint Mary’s Invitational held at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

USC clinched the top spot at the tournament with an impressive 15-under par final round to narrowly beat out Stanford by four strokes. The Trojans finished with a combined 28-under score ahead of second place Stanford and third place Colorado State.

Individually, Justin Suh of USC won medalist honors as he finished the tournament with a combined 13-under par performance. Suh’s teammate Kaito Onishi tied for second at 8-under along with Patrick Fishburn of BYU and Hayden Shieh of Santa Clara.

  • Ash Hakim had the best finish for the Gaels as he tied for 14th at 4-under on the tournament. 
  • Pavan Sagoo had his best round of the tournament on Wednesday with a 2-under 71 to finish tied for 20th. 
  • Michael Slesinski improved by 12 strokes from the middle round and led all Gaels with a 3-under final round while competing as an individual. 
  • Slesinski notched five birdies on the final day and finished the round with an eagle on the par-5 18th. 
  • Connor Blick, Brandon Jacobs, and Max Ferrari all tied for 26th with even tournament scores. 

Wednesday marked the end of the fall season as the Gaels won’t return to action until Jan. 29 at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
