MSOC | Gaels Well Represented on WCC All-Academic Teams

Stephen Dougherty was named on the All-Academic team while five others were Honorable Mention.


MSOC | Four Gaels Named on All-WCC Teams

Jake Rudel, Stephen Dougherty, Tobias Clauss and Filippo Zattarin were all chosen as all-league players by the eight coaches.

AS A JUNIOR (2017): Appeared in all 17 contests and made 16 starts overall … was second on the team with three goals and fourth with eight points … named Second Team All-WCC … placed on the All-Academic team with a 3.7 GPA … scored in three straight conference games against San Francisco, Loyola Marymount, and San Diego … took 21 shots including five against USD … played 110 minutes three times during the year.

Played in all 19 matches for the Gaels and made 18 starts … tied for first on the team in points and assists with eight and four, respectively … scored two goals including one in a 2-2 tie against No. 1 Stanford … took 20 shots during the season with seven of those coming on frame.

AS A FRESHMAN (2015):  Started 17 of his 18 appearances during the season ... logged the most minutes on the team at 1,555 ... earned recognition on the West Coast Conference all-Freshman Team ... one of just four players to see action in every game during the season ... scored twice, including the match winner off the bench against Canisius ... also scored against Oral Roberts in Springfield, Mo. ... played every minute of all seven matches against WCC opposition and 12 times overall ... attempted 25 shots on the season with 13 on target ... a member of the SMC Student-Athlete Advisory Council ... earned Silver honors (g.p.a. of 3.50-3.74) on the West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

PRIOR TO SAINT MARY'S:  A 2015 graduate of De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. … scored 14 varsity goals with 11 assists … started 45 of 48 appearances and helped lead prep team to a first-team all-East Bay Athletic League and all-East Bay selection as a senior … led prep team to North Coast Section and league titles as a sophomore and junior …  coached by former Saint Mary’s player Derricke Brown … scored 11 goals and distributed 10 assists as a senior ... a honorable mention all-league honoree as a junior … selected to play in 2015 East Bay All-Star Game … played club soccer in spring, 2015 for USSDA Academy San Jose Earthquakes … helped lead the Quakes to the USSDA national semifinals ... also played club soccer for Diablo FC.
