MORAGA, Calif. — Sydney Raggio was named the Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 1-7, 2018, after helping lead the Saint Mary's women's basketball team to a WCC road trip sweep during the week with back-to-back double-figure scoring performances, including a clutch basket at Pacific.

It was Raggio’s offensive rebound and layup with 1.7 seconds left on Thursday that beat the Tigers in Stockton. She tallied her second 20-point game of the season and fifth of her career on Thursday, scoring a game-high 20 points and narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. She also tied a season high with four assists while swiping a steal versus the Tigers.

Saturday, she was part of a near-school record shooting performance by the Gaels in San Diego, shooting 62.5 percent from the floor while the Gaels posted a 63.8 field goal percentage - the team's best in at least the last seven seasons. She tallied her third straight double-figure scoring game and 14th of the season as she continued to be one of the WCC's most-accurate shooters.

For the week, Raggio averaged 15.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 0.5 steals per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the field.

The Gaels begin a four-game home stand at 6:30 p.m. Thursday versus Bay Area rival Santa Clara. Tickets are available for purchase on or by calling the SMC Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
