MORAGA, Calif. - Saint Mary's women's basketball's Megan McKay was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday for the week of Feb. 5-11 after posting two double-doubles and helping the Gaels take down the WCC leader on the road.

McKay tallied consecutive double-doubles in two games versus two of the WCC's top-four teams while also inching ever closer to the 1,000 career points mark. She also continued her reign as the WCC's top shooter, shooting an impressive 83.3 percent for the week.

Saturday, McKay helped the Gaels dominate WCC leader Gonzaga on its own home floor, scoring 14 points with only one missed shot (7 for 8) while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds as the Gaels handed the Bulldogs their first WCC loss of the year and snapped their 15-game winning streak. McKay scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed a game-best 11 rebounds - including six offensive boards - Thursday versus Loyola Marymount. She shot 80 percent (8 for 10) against the Lions.

McKay also had two assists, a block and a steal while shooting 75.0 percent from the free-throw line during the week. She is now only 47 points away from the 1,000 career points mark. Her two double-doubles during the week made it three in a row dating to Feb. 3.

McKay and the Gaels play their final two home games of the regular season this week against San Francisco (Thursday) and Portland (Saturday) before heading out on the road for a short two-game road trip to conclude the regular season.
